Pregnancy: 35 Weeks

35 Weeks? How is that even possible?  We can count down to his due date in days... 33 days as of today.  Everyone seems to think that he will be here before then, but I just keep saying it's all in the Lord's hands. Not knowing is CRAZY!

How far along? 35 Weeks 2 days
Total weight gain/loss: Approx. 40 pounds.... I will have some work to do when this baby is born!
Maternity clothes? I squished into this neon yellow dress to celebrate Easter today. Horizontal stripes can be dangerous, but I think this one is pretty cute today. (My opinion on a given outfit changes daily.)  Also, after looking at last week's picture compared to this one, I have no clue why the bump looks so oblong. Moose must be doing some acrobatics because last week I looked round, now I feel sort of squashed looking... maybe it's the stripes lol.
Stretch Marks? Clear belly... keep on Vitamin E.
Sleep: Some nights I sleep pretty decently, but others it's practicing for the many nighttime feedings I will be doing soon.  I haven't had too many leg cramps; it's mostly the heartburn that wakes me up.
Best moment(s) this week: I really enjoyed our Team E Rally this week.  I was unable to stay the whole time, since my body is kicking my butt.  Our girls looked great! I was so proud of them.
Having Friday off was awesome!  Since Friday was Good Friday, we had the Uverse installed... What a crazy thing to have Internet again.  (I am blogging from my own house for the first time in weeks.) Sam & I sat down and watched a movie together last night.
Miss Anything? Just missing my speed and energy.

Movement: He has food his FEET... and his sweet (giant) feed have found my ribs!
Food cravings: Yes please... Really I haven't had any crazy food cravings.  I thought I would be all about odd foods and such, but really that just hasn't been my thing.
Anything making you queasy or sick: The heartburn is really makes me feel no beuno.
Gender: All Moose
Labor Signs: Hello Braxton Hicks... These contractions don't hurt, but they are so uncomfortable.  It's easy to be paranoid as a first timer, but I think I am getting the hang of what's what.  I guess that's why the body practices.
Symptoms: Good news is... I think he has moved off my back nerves enough to let that nerve get almost healed!!! Praise the Lord.  It's still a bit uncomfortable, but no where near the pins and needles pain I was in last week.  I have crazy heartburn & quite a few burps (excuse me). I am still swelling, so I know I must retaining an epic amount of water.  I am worn out!
Belly Button in or out? Flat as a Pancake
Wedding rings on or off? Officially off and being worn around my neck. So SAD!
Happy or Moody most of the time? Happy & Moody. Then Happy. And pretty Moody.
Looking forward to:  This week I will be celebrating with my cheerleading baby shower.  I am so blessed to have so many great supporters.  I am looking forward to my students being done with their English EOC testing! That has been a source of great stress for me because I am so worried about them and their scores.  Thank goodness we test on Wednesday and Thursday and put it behind us.

HAPPY EASTER to you and your kin!

Lent Reflection:
As I have been posting, we have up television and cokes for Lent.  The cokes were Sam's crutch, while I was (unwilling to admit) becoming addicted to TV.  The timing lined up just right with the move, so we didn't bother to set up service at the new house until this weekend.

It is absolutely crazy how many things you can get done, when you turn that glowing box off.  I can say for certain that giving up the TV made me closer to my husband, my dogs, my family, and the LORD! Amen.  I stopped tuning out and was engaged in life again.  Now that I am hurting and on minimum activity, I will probably resume watching a bit again, but I have seen the other side and I understand that those shows will wait on the DVR as long as they need to.  There is no rush to watch my shows.... I want to instead be an active wife and soon mother.  It's been a really cool evolution.  I could go without a lot of technology and be ok. Heck, probably be happier! Sometimes I wish the world was (as a whole) less dependent on Facebook & cell phones.

I highly suggest unplugging the TV for a week, and enjoying your family dinners at the table for a change! So many folks don't do this anymore.  I am blessed beyond words that this Lent season was able to be so fulfilling.  Praise the LORD because he is RISEN!

Pregnancy: 34 Weeks ... Slow Down!

Read about this week's "Slow Down" adventure after the weekly update.

How far along? 34 Weeks 2 days
Total weight gain/loss: I know that I have gained more than 35 pounds, BUT that being said I agreed that we would have a tear free weekend so I stepped on the scale backwards at the doctor's office this week :) I feel better knowing I don't know!
Maternity clothes? Yes & my husbands clothes.  With the crazy Texas weather we have been having lately my maternity wardrobe isn't filling all the gaps these days.  I have borrowed some things from one of the teachers down the hall... thank goodness for her because otherwise I might just look like a giant slob!!
Stretch Marks? The doctor said that's what good thing I have going for me still, haha.  No belly stretch marks.  I will keep hoping that they don't show up.
Sleep: Is very challenging.
Best moment(s) this week: What a busy, busy week.... Best moment would have been our housewarming yesterday.  It was great getting to show off our home and visit with so many people who love and care about us. My husband also took charge and handled all the food and did a GREAT job!
Miss Anything? Feeling comfortable lol.
Movement: Oh yes... Alien belly for sure.
Food cravings: Just hungry all the time. Nothing in particular.
Anything making you queasy or sick: The thought of greasy chicken makes me uncomfortable, but that's pretty normal.
Gender: Blue for Baby Boy
Labor Signs: Well... again I say everyone just PRAY that little Moose stays put until he's supposed to.
Symptoms: Swelling, Tired, Doctor Confirmed a crushed sciatic nerve, break outs, itchy ribs, heartburn...
Belly Button in or out? Oh so flat
Wedding rings on or off? OFF :( I'm so so so sad!
Happy or Moody most of the time? Happy But Tired!
Looking forward to: Team E Rally this week with Cheer to raise money for a great cause!! Friday off! And Easter Weekend :)

This week was quite the adventure... I went to ER on Wednesday. We have been practicing a lot to prepare for our performance at the Team E Rally: Cheering for a Miracle.  On Tuesday night, my wonderful mascot leaned over and asked me if my feet were supposed to be purple.  This was the first red flag I should have noticed.  I hadn't been feeling super duper & I had been swelling.

Wednesday, I woke up feeling puffy and sort of funny.  I made my way to school and had to take off my wedding ring.  My finger hurt trying to pull it off.  I am trying not to take any time off work before the Moose arrives so that we can save as much money as possible.  I decided to tough it out, despite some serious nagging from my momma & a few co-workers.  By the time 7th period arrived, I knew I didn't feel like myself.  I waddled (yes, thanks to my awesome back nerve pain I walk like a penguin) down to our athletic trainer and asked him to take my blood pressure.  I am normally very low when it comes to BP.  I mean they ask every time if I am dizzy.  (Think 100s/60s or 70s) Needless to say when my BP was 128/95 there was some cause for concern for me.

I called the doctor's office, and they promptly told me to waddle my way into the OB ER.  Let me tell you telling that to my darling hubby wasn't fun.  We drove to the hospital and checked in.  I was hooked up to several machines.  Once sitting in a hospital bed, my blood pressure quickly started to stabilize (hmmm maybe I should have just sat down at school? lol), but it was good that we were there because the doctor came in and asked me, "Are you feeling those contractions???"

Like the blonde I am, my response was, "Ohhhhhhhhhh! That's what that is!"  When you are majorly uncomfortable, your brain manages to skip some reoccurring pains and discomforts.  The biggest concern was that I was having regular contractions every 5 to 7 minutes.  They weren't lasting long and they were non-producing (so not actual labor contraction yet!), but it's still not what they want to see. They dripped a bag of fluid to see if they would stop on their own - they didn't.  I got a super fun shot (that is sarcastic...) called terbutaline to stop the contractions.  It made me heart raceeeeee, which I hated, but the contractions did stop.  They didn't find anything else wrong with me and the verdict was.... This momma needs to SLOW DOWN!

I have rested my tail off since then and I can tell you that I feel world's of difference!  I have just reached the time where I can't go and go.  Friday was my regular doctor's appointment, and my bp was gladly back to normal. My swelling has decreased, and she said that our little adventure hasn't increased my risk for early labor or anything like that.  She has officially put me on minimum walking/activity, but NOT bed rest. :) I will take my good luck where I can.  I guess I just have to take it easy until after this kiddo is born.

It was definitely an adventure, but I know what contractions are like now.  Sam said that it was little preview for him what we will be in for coming up pretty soon, too.  I guess we are now just playing the guessing game of when will moose decide to come.  :)

Keep saying prayers that Moose stays put as long as he is supposed to, whatever that means.

Pregnancy: Third Trimester Must Haves

Third Trimester Must Haves

Each trimester is unique.  Being a first timer, I have learned along the way why each of these phases are broken up into the section that they are.  Just weeks away from my first bouncing baby boy, I am worn out and enjoying a multitude of third trimester pregnancy symptoms.  One of these delightful symptoms is my lack of sleeping through the night.  In the middle of my sleeplessness, I decided I just MUST blog about my Third Trimester Must Haves! These are the 6 items that I am not sure I would be making it without in my life right now....

1. Tums Smoothies - The heartburn is awful!! These take the edge off.  I like the smoothie version best because they go down much smoother than the other types.

2. Nature Valley Protein Bars + Kellog's Nutri-Grain Bars - I am a snack addict!  I cannot even explain how bad life is if I get hungry.  I might as well be hulking out. These are my favorites because they are easy to grab.
3. Tervis Cup - I love my Tervis cups! I take my cup with me everywhere.  I drink water like it's going out of style.

4. Bath & Body Works Body Scrub + Vitamin E Oil - I use these two things everyday & so far I don't have any stretch marks on my belly.  My chest has some, but I haven't been exfoliating there since the beginning. I think the combo of water, exfoliating, and vitamin E has kept me from being super itchy too.

5. Cami with Built in Bra - OMG! There are days when underwire is just not an option... Motherhood Maternity has a kind of these that has bra cups in them, so you don't have to worry about everything being out there.  I wear my black cami almost everyday under everything.  It helps to add a little length, and it is tight enough to give me a little support.  It's not too tight that it hurts to wear, though.

6. Makeup Cleansing Wipes - These are the Target brand makeup wipes.  For some reason washing my face every night seems like so much effort.  Maybe it is because I am still working some 11 hour days, but even if you aren't I think these are so much easier.  Turning on the water just seems hard!

I have somewhere around 7 more weeks left... so it's possible that I could find some other gems to make my life a little easier right now.  :)

Pregnancy: 33 Weeks ... Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

How far along? 33 Weeks 2 days
Total weight gain/loss: Haven't been on the scale this week... So we will assume it's still 35 pounds. I will find out the official total at the doctor's this week.
Maternity clothes? I'm just growing out of everything!  We are counting my mint green as green for St. Patty's day because nothing else would fit!
Stretch Marks? Still have a clear belly so far!  I have been exfoliating with scrubbies and lathering up with the Vitamin E Oil & lotion.
Sleep: Woah! It's like the days and nights have flipped! I want to sleep in the middle of the day, but all night long I toss and turn.  I have this squashed back nerve, so it hurts.
Best moment(s) this week: This whole week was AWESOME!  I got to spend time at home and in the sunshine.  I read a book.  I took a nap! We took Maternity pictures. Moose's room is coming together... such a wonderful, wonderful week!
Miss Anything? Moving with ease.... where did that go?
Movement: This baby moves like it's his job to wreck organs! :)
Food cravings: Food? I LIKE FOOD. MOOSE LIKES FOOD... haha!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Sam cooked fish this week... no thank you fishies.
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: Uh oh, sketti-o's!  Please everyone start praying that Moose Man stays put until he is fully incubated, and it's May.  I have started having some Braxton Hicks... Let's hope nothing else starts up soon.
Symptoms: A little bit of swelling, a CRUSHED nerve in my back (yowza!), the slight darkening of the mask of pregnancy, sleepy momma, heartburnnnnnnn, & the top of my rib cage is itchy, itchy, itchy
Belly Button in or out? Just Flat
Wedding rings on or off? On still! Swelling fluctuates all over the place.
Happy or Moody most of the time? Very happy this week!!! What a Splendid week!!!
Looking forward to: Housewarming shindig! :)

Nursery Sneak Peek: In progress!!!

Our little guy's room is a work in progress.  I think we have a majority of the practical items that we need, but we still lack many of the finishing touches/cutesy stuff.  Our shower showered us with so many wonderful gifts! We are highly blessed and so grateful! It's crazy that it's getting so close to moose time.

I know it's still a little early, but I just cannot believe how much we have grown over the weeks.  I will do a final one when it's all done....Also, I must say my chalkboard art skills are vastly improved! If you keep at something, you are bound to get better! HAHA!

Pregnancy: 31 Weeks ... Pineapple sized baby!

The blog is a little wonky this week because I did it on my phone... We gave up TV for Lent, so we also don't have the Internet. I have been going to my moms to blog each week, but I didn't go over there today...so bear with us :)

How far along? 31 Weeks 2 days ... The countdown is officially in single digit weeks. Woah!
Total weight gain/loss: 30 pounds
Maternity clothes? Yes, yes, yes... And I would like bigger ones lol!
Stretch Marks? My chest has them, but the belly is still pretty clear. I have lots of bright blue veins, though.
Sleep: I am waking up multiple times a night now, and at 7:00 this morning I could not for the life of me get myself back to sleep.
Best moment(s) this week: First cheer practice of the season! Sam and I also had a wonderful meal at my moms (she made pancakes by our special request, and she laughed and laughed that they were what we wanted)! We journeyed up to see one of our students play ice hockey, and today we were able to finish about 99% of our house!!! I went to the gym today and walked on the treadmill.. Woohoo!
Miss Anything? I miss laying on my belly.
Movement: Yes! He makes little roller coaster waves ripple across my belly. It is a very strange thing to watch for a first time mom!
Food cravings: I am still loving milk.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Just the heartburn really.
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: No... I keep telling him May, baby, May baby hey!
Symptoms: The heartburn is rough! My back is doing funny things where it really hurts. Some swollen ankles this week, but loads of water and some walking has helped all weekend.
Belly Button in or out? Innish? Flat really
Wedding rings on or off? On for now... Fingers are getting a little bigger. Now, I am thankful for not resizing my ring!
Happy or Moody most of the time? I am a deliriously happy girl. I cannot believe how fortunate I am. My husband is awesome and has been taking stellar care of everything lately! Also, there is so much good stuff coming up. Ok that all being said... I am not a nice person when I get hungry anymore. Something happens and I go into this other place... Rar! Feed me! Haha :)
Looking forward to: There is so much to look forward to! Our friend's wedding is this weekend. Baby shower is coming up. Spring break is on the horizon. What a wonderful life!!!!! Praise The Lord!

This giving up TV thing is actually pretty awesome! I really don't mind it. I have been productive, and I think it has kept Sam and I focused on God and each other! (Which was the whole purpose...I know) But really I suggest giving up the TV even if its just for a week :)
