Moose: Happy Birthday Baby!

How Big?: Moose is a ONE YEAR OLD! Where does the time go???? It's crazy. He is 30.5" tall, and he weighs just over 22 pounds. He is in the 75th percentile, so he has slowed up a bit. But he is still a big boy!
Clothing Size?: Everything he wears is 18 months or bigger. He really needs 2T jammies. I don't know why but they run so darn small. It seems like we never have enough pjs. We are constantly washing and washing jammers. His diapers are a 4. We are liking the movers diapers, but now that he's bigger we are less brand picky. Huggies is what we normally get, though.
What/When is he eating?: He LOVES grapes! He would eat GRAPES over anything else. I have no idea why. We are supposed to be weaning him from his bottle, but it's not working out so well right now. He loves his bottle, and mommy and daddy do, too. It's the only thing that gets out tornado to sleep. We are going to have to work on this over the summer.
Movement?: Holy Cow! Baby boy is up, walking, running, stumbling, tripping, and taking off again. He is a crazy man! Don't turn your head or he is gone!
Milestones? He is picking up more words... Yeah, yeah, yeah is his new thing! He is walking and running, which is EPIC. He is a one year old.  He can eat food without it being in tiny bites. (Most of the time he will tear it off...)
Hardest Moment(s) of the Month: Realizing that my baby isn't a baby anymore, but firmly a toddler has been a challenge. I just finally feel like I have the hang of this mom thing, and wham he's just getting bigger. We are in the "no, no, no" phase, too. Moose likes to play in the dog's water, so we are constantly telling him "no." It's a challenge to know what is appropriate discipline for a 1 year old. We believe in "spare the rod, spoil the child," so we are doing our best to raise a well-mannered young man! Say a prayer for that!
Best Moment(s) of the Month: His birthday party was a huge success. We have so much family that even just a family party is a big party! I had been super sick with the flu, right before the big day, so we were a little last minute in getting everything together, but I think it turned out FABULOUS! (Pics below)
Looking Forward to: The teacher countdown to summer has officially begun! I cannot wait to get Moose in the pool. I cannot wait to get in the pool! We will keep Sam in the shade ;)

Pregnancy: 16 Weeks

I missed my 15 week post because I was in bed.. for an entire week! I knew I was getting sick the Friday before last, but I didn't think it was too big of a deal. I was throwing up, but that is pretty normal for me so I thought no big deal.  Saturday morning, I woke up achy all over! I was so ticked off at Sam. He had been complaining that his back hurt because of our bed (we have a nice squishy pillow-top mattress with two big human size divots in it), so he decided that we needed to turn the mattress on Friday night. I thought I was hurting because of the mattress, but I wasn't sure and didn't want to take a chance.

I called ahead to the local urgent care but got an answering machine, so I left my name and number and waited not so patiently to be called in. After an hour - nothing, so I, at this point, was beginning to feel pitiful. I decided that I couldn't wait I turned to Google and found another urgent care, literally around the corner from the house. I drove straight there and was seen pretty quickly. They did a strep test, but it was negative so they ran a flu test. At this point the flu hadn't even crossed my mind... it's nearly May, after-all! As a I sat and waited for the results, I began to get dizzy and more and more nauseous.  I sat there trying to be a big girl, telling myself, "I'm an adult. I can't throw up on the floor." Finally, I got up to reach for the door to ask for a bucket of some kind, but just as I did the doctor was there. She looked at me puzzled. I told her I felt like I might pass out, and that's how she told me I had the flu. She said, "Why don't you lay down? You have the flu."

I spent all of Saturday in bed fighting nausea and fever. And Sunday the same. But finally Sunday evening my fever skyrocketed to a 103, and I knew I was in rough shape. Sam took me into to the ER, and they dripped three bags of IV and gave me three rounds of zofran (to stop the throwing up).  Finally, I was hydrated and could sleep. I stayed off work the rest of the week and stayed in bed until Friday.
Honestly, I'm still not 100%, but I am back to the land of the living, and so so grateful to not be that sick.
I went to my OB in the midst of all this because I was terrified that something would happen to the baby.  I got a sonogram, and we are so thankful that the baby is still looking good!

How far along? 16 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Lost about 5 to 8 pounds at this point
Maternity clothes? Nope... I thought I was going to need them, but with the latest weight loss I have no need yet of maternity clothes.
Stretch Marks? Nothing new
Sleep: I could sleep for days.
Best moment(s) this week: Eating an actual full meal and not throwing it up! Whoop... It's the little things.
Miss Anything? I miss feeling like a normal person. I don't even know what that means anymore.
Movement: I think I have been too distracted to notice.
Food cravings: In the last day or so I cannot get the idea of a Monte Cristo sandwich out of my brain.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Random things, nothing, everything.
Gender: According to the doctor's sonogram, baby is most likely a girl... But I don't want to start getting too excited or plan until after my anatomy scan in three weeks.
Labor Signs: Not yet
Symptoms:  Who knows what are leftover flu symptoms and what are baby symptoms, but I would be happy to quit THROWING UP. EWWW
Belly Button in or out? in
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time? I'm pretty moody, but that's because I still don't feel super.
Looking forward to: I am looking forward to being able to enjoy this pregnancy, instead of being so sick all the time.

Pregnancy: Nursery Dreaming - Breakfast in Paris Nursery

Breakfast in Paris Nursery

This is my design board for a sweet baby girl nursery. I wanted to be able to use something I already had in the nursery, and I actually already own the large Black and White framed poster of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. I don't know if we will end up with a room quite like this, but it is what I envision.

Our plan is to find a dresser at Salvation Army and to paint it ourselves. If we can find a crib on Craigslist, we will probably go that route this time, too. I realllllly hope that I can get at least a few of the other pieces for sweet girl's nursery. (Of course this is all assuming that baby really is a girl.. for now, it's still only 95% sure. We will know for sure in three weeks!)

Pregnancy: 14 Weeks, Round 2

I missed posting last week because of total chaos in our house. Literally, the only spare second I had to sit down and blog was washed away by a sudden pouring of water from our upstairs main air vent. YES BUCKETS AND BUCKETS of water pouring from the ceiling, as the doorbell rang, while Moose was screaming at the TOP of his lungs for his daddy. It was a joyful moment. Thank the LORD that Sam was able to determine the cause of the leak fairly quickly and to clean the water before it did any permanent damage. Sometimes in this new life as homeowners and parents, I look back and realize I used to have one EASY life full of FREE time. Hindsight is better than 20/20. Eh, but I'll take the flooding and the screaming because I am truly, truly blessed. Ok, onto this weeks facts.

How far along? 14 Weeks... Hello Second Trimester
Total weight gain/loss: Even so far... I did yoga this week and took a long walk yesterday. Trying to keep the activity level up!
Maternity clothes? My problem really is that regular pants just don't want to button, but maternity pants are too loose. I have the belly band, but it's pretty well worn and doesn't like to stay in place!
Stretch Marks? I will report on this as time goes on.
Sleep: I'm so sleepy! And I'm waking once a night to pee!
Best moment(s) this week: Finally feeling like a real human! I haven't been terribly sick (knock on wood)! I really think that this last week has been a turn for baby and I. Also, I cannot get enough of my baby Moose running around the house.
Miss Anything? I wouldn't trade this life for anything, but I do sometimes miss the quiet.
Movement: I am super excited for big baby movement that I know will come... BUT I also know that at some point that will drive me crazy lol.
Food cravings: Nothing much this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Fish, smelly cologne, poopy diapers
Gender: My guess: boy. What seems like the rest of the world's guess: girl.
Labor Signs: Later
Symptoms:  TIRED. TIRED. TIRED. Was I this tired last time? A few headaches and occasional dizzy spells, but I am delighted to say that this is the first week in weeks that I feel relatively normal.
Belly Button in or out? in
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time? Moody. And then moodier. Eeeks
Looking forward to: Getting more and more excited to know if this sweet baby is a boy or girl. I need to daydream the nursery accordingly :)
