Moose: May baby

How Big?:  Officially 13 months and a toddler... Woohoo. This man is 24+pounds and over 30 inches tall.
Clothing Size?: Every time I turn around this kid is growing more and more. I finally cracked the clothing size code for him (at least for the next twenty minutes). Target brands which are mostly circo, cherokee, or carters seem to fit pretty similarly. (The superhero clothes can be a little different, though.) He is wearing a 12 month shorts because the 18 months are just so so so long, and my little dude has short legs. He is wearing a 2T top, now. They are longer, which is better for Moose because his torso goes on forever. I bought him a pair of 3T pjs that were carter's crabby pjs, and they fit very well. I think we are stocked on 18 month size things, and I am now looking towards buying things in the 2T category for him as we move forward.
What/When is he eating?: Dude loves pasta. Spaghetti nights are awesome because there is inevitably marinara sauce in his hair and occasionally his eyebrows. He is finicky about when he wants to eat, though. There is no rhyme or reason to it ... much like the sleeping. He is on some schedule that the rest of us are unaware of that changes each day. Sometimes dinner is like eh whatever and others he wants to eat half of my plate. He can eat just about anything now, though he sometimes forgets he knows how to take bites and stuffs a whole lot in his mouth. The bottle weaning is not going as planned.... We are basically not weaning, yet. He loves his baba. We have cut back, so I guess technically we are working on it.
Movement?: He has learned to climb on furniture. Please watch out!
Milestones?: There are so many things happening for him right now. I see his sense of language developing and changing. He is attempting words like doggie, which comes out more like a high-pitched squeal-y sound but if you are around him enough you know what he means. He will say baba, and he will definitely respond if you ask if he wants one. (Try him bolting towards his bedroom door at night to go get it when asked.) He also shakes his head no when he doesn't want what you are offering him. He has learned to return his sippy cup to the table, counter, stool, whatever that he got it from or to hand it to someone near. It was previously discarded to the ground. He attempts to put lids on things when he is done with them. It is incredible to see his brain developing in all these cool ways!
Hardest Moment(s) of the Month: Well, with all that cognitive development that I am so very excited about comes the other side. Moose has learned the power of throwing a fit. That melt down, cry my eyes out stare that makes mommy feel like she's actually hurting him by not letting him drink from HER cup. Yes, the 1 year old is trying to guilt me into giving him what he wants. It is so hard as a mom to learn to tune out the whiny cries of a boy who needs to learn better, when you have spent months catering to this human when he cried. It's tough to know that crying used to be a communication tool and sometimes it still is, but with each passing day it's less a tool and more a crutch. Learning how not to enable your kid is tough parenting stuff.
Best Moment(s) of the Month: We have had an incredible month full of fun! There are pictures at the bottom of the post. He is so much more aware of the world that going places has a whole new meaning!
Looking Forward to: In a very short time (one week), we will be home with our boy for summer. I cannot wait to watch him grow and change over these next few months. I am looking forward to soaking it all up with him before his baby brother arrives in the fall.

Pregnancy: 21 Weeks... Kick City

How far along: 21 weeks 2 days
Total weight gain/loss: I've gained 4 pounds. Weight = 128 pounds
Maternity clothes? Yep! I can still wear some of my non-maternity tops, but they are starting to hang a bit at the bottom, which I hate! In the pic,  I'm back to my Gap maternity jeans (the only pair I have with a low belly, instead of the all over belly material). The top is something I picked up on clearance at Old Navy!
Stretch marks? Not as so far... But I didn't want to mess with a good thing, so I'm using my Bath and Body body scrub on my belly, chest, and also thighs! (Missed those round one lol) And I am trying to put on the Vitamin E oil... which I need more of and lotion!! Eesh! Lots of water, too!
Sleep: Baby doesn't like momma to sleep anywhere near on my belly, which means if I turn too far on my side I get kicked in the middle of the night!
Best moment(s) this week: We had a really good time last night at Sam's softball game! I also had some really good momma moments on memorial day Monday. It was a wonderful weekend. We planted a few pieces of sod, some new bushes, and my lily! Fingers crossed everything makes it!
Have you told family and friends: Yes! Baby even has his very own name... I will post it on my Facebook with the link to this post :)
Miss Anything? Starting to miss my ability to move about. I am starting to struggle to get clothes out of the washer and to put Moose in his crib.
Movement:  Um yeah. It's only going to get more and more kick city!
Food cravings: Random things, but never sticks long.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nope
Have you started to show yet: Baby Bump is a growing
Gender prediction: Baby is a boy
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: I am having a few ligament pains, and I am very very sleepy!
Belly Button in or out? Shallow innie
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Ru roh Hormones! I have been a very moody lady.
Weekly Wisdom: Less a pregnancy wisdom and more a mommy wisdom... ALWAYS carry a snack and a sippy cup on you - at all times!
Looking forward to: SUMMER. One week of school left to go! Whoop.

Pregnancy: 20 weeks... Halfway again!

How far along: 20 weeks 1 day
Total weight gain/loss: I've gained 2 pounds. Weight = 126 pounds
Maternity clothes? I borrowed a friend from works maternity pants... some of them are a little short (which is ok because a few rolls makes them capris), but it's about all I can fit into. My own pants are not working out, and my maternity pants are super baggy. I am not quite as big as I was at this point last time, and this bump seems different than my first one.
Stretch marks? Nothing new
Sleep: I am struggling to sleep through the night already. I have to pee in the middle of the night, and I am constantly flipping from side to side. This time around I know that it's only going to be even worse as time goes on, so I'm just trying to enjoy the sleep I get!
Best moment(s) this week: We celebrated my mom's birthday this weekend, and we had a great time! I loved getting to see my twin nieces and spend time with the family. Sam and I also got to have a date night at a friends wedding. It was wonderful to get dressed and cleaned up and spend some quality time with the hubs.
Have you told family and friends: Yes! We are working on a name... We have it narrowed down to our tops, and we are nearly certain. I know that everyone is eager to know, and we are eager to share. We won't be picking a nickname. Moose's name came to him organically. It happened. He did it all himself. I knew he had antlers from day one, then he showed them off on our sonogram. This little man will have a legacy all his own, and we will let him have it in his own time.
Miss Anything? This week has really been a great one. I miss my memory, (pregnancy brain) but for the most part I am pretty easy going.
Movement:  Yes! Little guy has started to kick, and today I swear he was doing back flips!
Food cravings: Eh, food has been more appealing, but nothing in particular has been drawing me.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nothing to report.
Have you started to show yet: I don't think I could hide the bump at this point
Gender prediction: Baby is a boy
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: I have pregnancy brain out of nowhere..But otherwise pretty easy.
Belly Button in or out? getting more and more shallow
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time:  This one is a much happier week to report!
Weekly Wisdom: Staying active from day one makes being active at week 20 way easier. Keep walking and climbing those stairs!
Looking forward to: More and more baby kicks and deciding this guy's name!

Here's a couple of pictures of us at the wedding last weekend!

Pregnancy: 19 Weeks #2 - Boy or Girl?

The Tale of the Riley Boys
About a month ago, I had the flu. I had it BAD. I mean bad, bad, bad. Throwing up, fever, dehydrated... the works. We had to get fluids, and my doctor did a sonogram to check on little baby. She asked, "Do you want to know boy or girl?" We nodded, not knowing that she would look that day. (I was still trying to breathe and not choke on my own coughing fits.)

She looked and with almost certainty gave us a grin. She asked one of the sono techs to come in a second her thoughts. GIRL she told us. It's 95% sure! We all laughed. I felt an anxious swell. We would start over, but this could be fun. She told us not to take the tags off anything because, "penises have a way of showing up!" Again, we all laughed, and we went on our way. Sam fully expected me to go crazy buying bows and dresses, and yet, I didn't. I made nursery plans, only to have them foiled by a steal of a deal on a crib. I attempted new nursery plans, but I still didn't buy a single bow.

We had our anatomy scan on Thursday, and my mom, Moose, Sam, and I were all prepared to see baby, but not expecting anything exciting. In fact my mom asked if we really wanted her there, my response was "if it turns out to be a boy, you'll want to be!" Mother's Intuition...  We went into the room and told the sono tech the doctor had looked 95% chance girl, and she quickly looked and agreed GIRL. she said. Anti-climatic, we enjoyed seeing little fingers and toes of the sleeping baby. Moose watched the screen uncertain of what they were doing to Mommy. Until, the sonogram wand woke the baby. Baby began to make the sono tech's job much harder. Flipping and rolling, tossing and kicking, baby was going crazy... and then there was a view - an underside, catcher's squat that we were familiar with from bouncing baby #1. "Oh, Oh, that's not a girl!" were the words from the gal. She pointed, "see that's the cord, and that, that is a penis."

Sam whooped in the corner and tears of joy streamed down my cheeks. Another boy! We are THRILLED. "Thank god for another boy!" Who knew we would be so excited? Well, I'm sure God did, but he has a funny sense of humor for us it seems! If there is a 95% chance of something, you can count on the Riley's to catch the 5%. Put away the bows, the frills, and the dresses y'all. It's time for a baseball baby's room, and all the messy stained clothes I can wash!

How far along? 19 Weeks 2 days (in the gray shirt yesterday)
Total weight gain/loss: According to the doctor's scale I weigh 126 (which means my at home scale tells me 124) - though I really had to pee when the weighed me at the doctor's LOL... Sorry, TMI! I am officially back to right around where I was pre-pregnancy. I typically stayed around the 125 mark on our scale... With the flu I dipped down (with severe hydration and no food) to 116. I am pleased to be done with the throw up stage and all of that.  I am calling this officially a 1 pound gain, so here we go. Maybe we won't hit 70 pounds this time!
Maternity clothes? Officially in maternity jeans, and some maternity tops. With the way I am carrying this baby, shirts that would have fit me last pregnancy flare out open at the end. I HATE that. I really need a few more maternity tees. so don't be surprised if my picture keeps on being in the same clothes lol (or long sleeves when its 80+ degrees outside)!
Stretch Marks? Eh, I'm so less worried about this than I was with baby number 1. I have some stretch marks. I'll probably get some more. I still exfoliate. I rarely Vitamin E, and I forget to put on lotion. I do drink a ton of water!
Sleep: And so begins the struggle, lol. Belly popped and now I wiggle, wiggle, wiggle all night!
Best moment(s) this week: This weekend, lol! We have gotten to the point in the school year where the children and the teachers all just want to be done, so school is a bit less enjoyable than it was before all the whining.  I am quite happy to hang out at home with my husband, son, and dogs! We get to celebrate my mom's birthday this weekend, too. Good family time is always the best.
Miss Anything? I miss not forgetting things every 5 seconds. My pregnancy brain and pregnancy tears are back with a vengeance this week.
Movement: They are still very subtle, but we are getting there.
Food cravings: Just food in general, but less specific things than with Moose.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Honestly, not really....
Gender: BOY again. You read the crazy story above!
Labor Signs: Nope! Whew.
Symptoms: Tears. Moods. SLEEPY.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On still loose.
Happy or Moody most of the time? Yep just about all over the place
Looking forward to: Summer is looming... Dun dun dun. I can smell it. Also, really looking forward to swimming with baby boy on the next warm day again!

A few Mother's Day pictures too!

Pregnancy: 18 Weeks #2

This pregnancy
I don't know if I even look like the same person! This time around I have dark hair, a totally different board, a smaller or at least higher bump, and I look exhausted! LOL

My first pregnancy with Moose

How far along? 18 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss:  Nothing so far.... Very different from pregnancy #1
Maternity clothes?  My sweater is a non-maternity top from Old Navy, and non-maternity pants this time around, too. I haven't even gotten to my maternity jeans. With the hot summer, I don't know if I will.
Stretch marks? Just hoping for less than last time.
Sleep: This is what I wrote last time at 18 weeks.... "I cannot get comfortable at all. I roll from one side to the other.  Hopefully, it will get a little better before it get s worse." STILL TRUE this time at 18 weeks!
Best moment(s) this week: I really feel like ME again! I don't feel crazy sick. I don't feel like a mess. I know I am a mess, but I don't constantly feel like one! I really enjoyed playing in Moose's play pool in the yard with him this weekend! Such a good boy.
Miss Anything? Right now, I am really enjoying life! Movement:  A few flips, but nothing substantial yet. Food cravings: Occasionally, but nothing like last time. I only wanted nachos last time, now I am pretty easy going. Anything making you queasy or sick:  I'm mostly doing well... knock on wood. Have you started to show yet: a little bit Gender predictionWe go in for our anatomy scan next Thursday and will know for sure. 95% chance it's a baby girl.Belly Button in or out? in Wedding rings on or offon and loose Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy and then really really moody. Crazy crazy moody... haha stay away from my nerves! Weekly Wisdom: Get the laundry done... and put it away. It helps the whole house seem cleaner! Looking forward to: SUMMER. AMEN
